Testimony of God's Faithfulness
Tuesday | April 28, 2009

Watching a wedding at the library [since we have dial-up]

We watched a friends' wedding on Saturday, live online...what was a blessing to witness the holy union of this Godly couple. It is encouraging to see the story of how God can bring two mature young people together for His glory.

What a testimony of trusting God to bring along a mate in His time, and remaining pure until then

"Wherefore they are no more twain,
but one flesh.
What therefore God hath joined together,
let not man put asunder."
(Mat 19:6)

Mozerella Cheese
Monday | April 27, 2009

Waiting for the milk to reach 91 degrees...

A land flowing with milk and honey, that's us! The Lord blesses us immensely each day. Out of our abundance of milk, Sarah is making mozzarella cheese. She is the best at stretching it. I have not gotten the hang of the stretching part, so we make a good team, each of us doing what we do best: I making the cheese and she spinning it into the final form!

Sarah "spinning" the cheese. After a few minutes of working the stretchy cheese, it gets tough. It is then ready to store in ice cold water until serving.

The finished product: String cheese sticks and mozzarella spheres. We usually cut the balls into slices and use on salads. The sticks make great snacks. We also grate it and freeze it for future use; mozzarella is the only goat cheese we have found that freezes well.

Chicken Feed
Wenesday | April 22, 2009

Jonathan grinding liver

We feed beef liver to our chickens because it helps them have strong legs and... ahem... since some of us do not like liver, it is put to good use!

Visiting With the Gaspers
Friday | April 17, 2009

Farm tours

We met the Gasper family a few weeks ago at the KC Food Expo [Apr 6, 09]. We have visited with them and enjoy trading farm stories and business ideas, as well as getting to know their three small boys.

Pig talk. The Gaspers raise and sell grass fed pork; they have 19 pigs! Many questions were asked as we continue to learn how to raise and sell good quality grass fed pork, also.

In action: the boys enjoyed playing together

Nathan's Catch!
Tuesday | April 14, 2009

Nathan caught an opossum in his live trap! It didn't remain live for long, however. Opossums are predators and enjoy eating Bryant Family Farm chickens as much as we do!

Christ is Risen
Monday | April 13, 2009

Low in the grave He lay,
Jesus, my Savior!
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus, my Lord!

Vainly they watch his bed,
Jesus my Savior!
Vainly they seal the dead,
Jesus, my Lord!

Death cannot keep his prey,
Jesus my Savior!
He tore the bars away,
Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes.
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose.

Renting Chicks: Happy Faces
Friday | April 10, 2009

There is nothing like seeing the joy and excitement on a child's face. Participants in our rent-a-peep program were thrilled to see the tiny chicks; this was worth doing, just to see these radiant faces! We still have rent-a-chicks available through Saturday, April 11.

This little girl was adorable with her chick. She was so excited to take it home with her; she even carried the box to their car by her little self!

"Finally! The day arrived to pick up chicks!" This family has talked about different things they can learn while they have the chicks: comparing weights, growth of the chicks, and how much they eat. We were impressed with their ingenuity!

"For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused,
if it be received with thanksgiving."
(1Ti 4:4)

They've Arrived!
Wednesday | April 8, 2009

...all 200 of them!

In eight weeks, they will be dinner. We are taking orders now for pasture-raised, hormone- and antibiotic-free chickens. We take orders early, since customer pick-up is also the day of butcher - can't get fresher than that! Some of these little chicks will have a dual purpose, participating in our rent-a-peep program. They will live with friendly families for two weeks before returning to their home, here at Bryant Family Farm!

Man Power: Action Shots
Tuesday | April 7, 2009

READY, AIM, FIRE!!...into the wild blue yonder!

Waa...ppoing! There she goes!

With our friend Josh's help, our "three-man slingshot" turned into a "five-man slingshot." They launched the projectile over 100 yards into oblivion, although sometimes it was hard to tell what they were projecting: the walnut or the children who were holding it back!

At least the children did not launch as far as the walnut did!

"So David prevailed over the Philistine
with a sling and with a stone."
(1Sa 17:50)

Rachael

Rachael's first cake decorating project: a matching doll cake!
Happy 10th Birthday, Rachael Elisabeth!
Rachael was born early one Easter morn in Korea. Her name was given to us before she was born and means Lamb of God. We are so thankful for this dear, sweet daughter. She is always ready to lend a helping hand, gives us all gifts, and makes our favorite foods! We are truly blessed by you; may the Lord bless you in the year ahead as you serve Him.

"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies."

Expanding the Business
Monday | April 6, 2009

Mom: our marketing director. We met a sweet young family from Gasper Family Farm

Saturday we attended the KCFoodCirle Expo to scout out the possibility of being a vendor next year. We want to reach the Kansas City area to market our products, and this may be a good way to do so. They have two expos each year and on their website have a listing of businesses. We will be added to their website soon listing our naturally raised chicken, turkey, pork, beef, eggs and milk.

We met many farmers and natural food growers from Missouri and Kansas. We rarely venture out to Kansas City, so it was a surprise to see a few familiar faces!

A storm came through the area that morning and grew progressively worse while we were at the Expo. On the way home, we saw many wrecks, and a van just like ours upside down! We were very grateful for the Lord's protection as Tom drove us home and are thankful for his expert driving, as well.

"Thou shalt sell me meat for money,
that I may eat;
and give me water for money, that I may drink."
(Deu 2:28)
