07.29.08 | Happy Birthday!

Today, Mom turns one year older! Today is also our music lesson day, and one of our friends at the Conseratory invited us to have lunch with her. We have looked forward to this for two weeks! What a blessing and treat for us all! Thank you, Betty!

Betty lent us her dulcimer so we can learn to play
and then teach her to play it!

We made a Srawberry Whipped Dessert!

07.27.08 | The Grand Finale

We made the 6 hour trip today to return the Jersey cow we bought from our friends in June. We're thankful we could visit with them again so soon and happy to return the cow to her original home. It was wonderful to visit them again - thank you for your hosptality!

We always have such a warm welcome when we visit.

On a break, we parked in the outskirts of a McDonald's. By the time we left, there were four other truck/trailer "friends" who had joined us out there! It was quite funny.

07.22.08 | Flaughers Visit

We met the Flaughers several years ago, before they were missionaries in Indonesia. They have been missionaries there for 2 1/2 years , and are on furlough to the States for a few months. They came for a visist today and we had a great reunion with their sweet family. They now have another little one, and the two older ones have grown so much! It was amazing to hear about their ministry in Papua, and their primitve lifestyle. What a commitment! They are heading back next week and in a few months, will move into a home they will build and live with tribal people.

We played Amazing Grace, the only song we have arranged for us all to play together. One piano, two harps, one cello, two violins and Dad will join us with the guitar soon!

We had a water balloon fight-a continuation of the one we had over two year ago. Here Mr. Flaugher picks out his team. What great refreshment on such a hot day.

After the fight, most of us were definitely wet, but Mr. Flaugher was drenched.

We all had a great time with them. It was a blessing to learn about their life in Indonesia. Thanks for visiting us, Flaughers-have a safe trip back to the field.

07.07.08 | He's Back!

This morning Mom walked outside and saw a passing truck with a guy in the back yelling our address to the driver... And she said, "That's us!" They found our dog!

Lad had obviously not gone far, because some people a few miles from us saw him walking past their house this morning. On Tuesday morning as Dad helped look for Lad, he drove down a gravel road close to our house. At the end of this road, Dad saw one just man and told him we were missing our dog. Thursday morning, as he and a neighbor had coffee, he mentioned that Dad had stopped and told him about Lad and as they were talking, they saw Lad walk out of their field. He realized it was our dog and loaded Lad on his truck and started out to look for our address. He remembered part of it, and that is when Mom walked out at the exact time he was riding by; the man in the back of the truck with Lad was yelling to the driver! What perfect timing! We are so thankful and relieved! Why do we ever doubt the Lord's faithfulness? What amazing ways God works out every little detail in our lives.

Tonight, we had Joshua over for dinner. We had not seen him for five months! He's been busy with his construction business; it was so great to see him again!

The boys will add that he had his big bumper painted black. They had to catch up on all the news. How do you listen to four people talking at once? Well, you learn...really fast. We're hoping to have him again for a water balloon fight soon.

Catching up on truck news...

07.05.08 | Lad

Our friend, Roxane gave us her collie, Lad. He is still a pup and is very sweet. Nathan, our animal man, made him feel right at home.

This morning Nathan took Lad out with him to the barn while he milked the goats. Nathan leashed him to a hook, and promptly, Lad broke the bolt on the hook and took off like lightening toward the road...andjust kept going. Nathan and Jonathan chased him down the highway (this was at the busiest time of the day, 7:00am) but couldn't catch him. Mom picked up the boys in the van to continue looking for Lad...for almost two hours. What a time! We put up signs for a lost collie, and told several neighbors. We doubt he will come back, since we have had him less than 12 hours. Maybe he is trying to go back home to Roxane's, which is 40 minutes from our home. Some days there is too much adventure!

07.06.08 | Four Cows

Today we went to the property to take four new steers. We hope they stay in their fence!

The dam is complete! It looks so good and we can finally drive across it to get to our new home site. We seeded the dirt area today.

Now we need to obtain a building permit and get the well driller out to test and drill a well. We don't want to start building until we are sure there is water.

We finally have our new address! Big news of the week!

07.04.08 | July Fourth

I love the fourth of July! We have great reason to set aside a day to commemorate the ones who risked their lives to give us freedom...so many today don't even realize the sacrifice they made. And Jesus shed His blood for us--before we even knew Him, and while we were still sinners! He wanted us to have freedom in Him before our God who is just. And we are pure before God because of His Son's atonement for us! Praise the Lord for physical freedom and spiritual freedom! May we not take it for granted.

We look forward to seeing the fireworks at Ft. Leavenworth each year.

They're so beautiful!
